Title: You Need the Power of the Holy Spirit.
Scripture:
"And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." — Luke 1:35
Devotion: The Holy Spirit is the key to true success in every good endeavor. Being good or engaging in a noble cause does not automatically guarantee fruitful results. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that brings every righteous effort to completion.
Mary was not the only virgin in Nazareth, yet it was the Holy Spirit who chose her, overshadowed her, and gave her the divine ability to conceive and bring forth Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. This shows us that human qualification alone is not enough; it is the Spirit of God that makes the difference (Zechariah 4:6).
The Holy Spirit specializes in making the impossible possible. When you are born again, He comes to dwell within you (John 14:16–17). From that moment, you can seek His empowerment through desire, fasting, persistent prayer, and waiting upon the Lord (Isaiah 40:31).
The initial evidence of His anointing is often seen when you prophesy and speak in tongues (Acts 2:4). As you grow, the gifts of the Spirit begin to manifest in your life—wisdom, healing, faith, discernment, and more (1 Corinthians 12:7–11). These gifts are not for self-glory but to transform your life and make you a true witness of Christ (Acts 1:8).
Consider how the apostles, once fearful and weak, became bold proclaimers of the gospel after Pentecost. Peter, who denied Jesus three times, stood before thousands and preached with power, leading many to salvation (Acts 2:14–41). This is what the Spirit does—He turns ordinary people into extraordinary vessels for God’s glory.
The Spirit also empowers us to overcome sin and live victoriously. Paul reminds us: “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2). Without Him, we struggle in vain, but with Him, we walk in freedom and victory.
Reflection
- Are you relying on your own strength, or are you allowing the Holy Spirit to empower you?
- Have you asked Him to fill you afresh today?
The Holy Spirit is not optional; He is essential. Invite Him to take charge of your life, and you will see His power at work in every area.
"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." — 2 Corinthians 3:17.
