Title : Jesus Will Not Leave You nor Forsake You

"Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Psalms 51:11"
Devotion : In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit - who is also called the Presence of God - came upon the prophets from time to time. He also walked with them from time to time. He left them after He had finished serving His purpose. He did not abide with them forever; the Holy Spirit had the tendency to forsake any person who took Him for granted, just as He forsook King Saul when Saul took Him for granted and disobeyed Him many times. King David had learnt of this event in the life of King Saul; hence, he was afraid the Holy Spirit could depart from him when he committed adultery with Bathsheba and subsequently murdered her husband. On the other hand, the New Testament gave us a new inheritance: the Presence of God/the Holy Spirit has come to abide with us forever, John 14:16. Therefore the Holy Spirit cannot leave us nor forsake us, Hebrews 13:5. Hallelujah! This calls for celebration, doesn't it? Let us therefore celebrate Jesus Christ for making this possible, and let us also live to continually please the Holy Spirit and not grieve Him with our disobedience. Praise the Lord!
