Title: Shun evil Do Good.

3 John 1:11 NIV
[11] Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
Devotion: In 3 John 1:11, the apostle John gives an earnest exhortation to you and me to shun evil and embrace goodness. The verse encapsulates a profound truth: our actions are a reflection of our spiritual state. Those who engage in good deeds, embodying love, kindness, and compassion, are aligned with God's character. In contrast, those who commit evil acts are estranged from God's presence, indicating a lack of divine influence in their lives.
This verse speaks to the fundamental Christian principle of imitation(discipleship). To be a follower of Christ is to emulate His virtues and to distance oneself from wrongdoing. It serves as a reminder that our choices and behaviors are significant—they not only define who we are but also reveal the depth of our relationship with God.

There are several Bible verses to support this: in 1 Peter 3:11 (NIV): we are told to  "turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it." The verse reinforces the call to actively reject evil and pursue goodness. It underscores the importance of intentional living, where one must strive for peace and righteousness.
Romans 12:21 (NIV): says "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Here Paul's words echo John's message. Believers are encouraged not to succumb to the temptations of evil but to counteract it with good deeds, demonstrating the transformative power of godliness.
Jesus says in Matthew 5:16 (NIV): "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Jesus Himself emphasizes the impact of good works, urging His followers to let their virtuous actions serve as a testament to God's glory.
In sum, 3 John 1:11 is a poignant reminder that our deeds are indicative of our spiritual alignment. It calls us to reflect on our actions, to seek goodness earnestly, and to be mindful of the example we set for others. This verse, complemented by other scriptural passages, forms a tapestry of guidance for believers striving to live in accordance with God's will.
