Title: You’re a Special Person: Discovering God’s DNA in You.
Scripture focus: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” (Psalm 139:14).
Every person is born with a divine imprint — a spiritual DNA that carries God’s unique design for their life. You are not an accident, nor are you a copy of someone else. The psalmist declared, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” (Psalm 139:14). This verse reminds us that God carefully crafted you with intention, weaving into your being gifts, passions, and purposes that make you stand out.
God’s Deposit in You: When God created Jeremiah, He said, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). Notice the sequence: God knew, God formed, God set apart, and God appointed. That is the divine DNA at work. Just as Jeremiah was marked for a prophetic calling, you too carry a deposit that distinguishes you.
Think of Joseph. His brothers saw him as ordinary, but God had placed within him the gift of dreams and interpretation. Though his journey led through betrayal and prison, that divine DNA eventually positioned him to save nations (Genesis 41). What looked like weakness became the very thing that made him stand out.
How Do You Discover It?
Discovering God’s DNA in you is a journey of intimacy with Him:
- Seek God in prayer and His Word: As you draw near, He reveals your identity. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault.”
- Pay attention to your passions and gifts: What stirs your heart deeply? What comes naturally to you? These are often clues to the divine imprint.
- Embrace trials as refining tools: Just as David discovered his courage by facing lions and bears before Goliath (1 Samuel 17), challenges often uncover hidden strengths.
- Listen to godly counsel: Sometimes others see in you what you overlook. Barnabas recognized Paul’s calling and encouraged him into ministry (Acts 11:25–26).
Living Out Your Divine DNA
The discovery is not just for self-awareness but for service. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14). Your divine DNA is meant to shine, to bless others, and to glorify God.
Like Esther, you may realize that you were positioned “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). Her courage to step into her calling saved her people. Your uniqueness is not for pride but for purpose.
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for depositing Your divine DNA in me. Help me to discover and embrace the gifts You have placed within me. May I walk boldly in my uniqueness, shining as Your light in the world. Amen.
