Scripture Foundation - Proverbs 22:1 — “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.” - Ecclesiastes 7:1 — “A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.” The Bible makes it clear that reputation and integrity are treasures more valuable than wealth. Riches may fade, but a good name endures across generations. Reflection: When we were young, we were taught to guard our lives with prudence, honesty, and diligence. These values shaped our character and protected our family names. Today, many are tempted to chase wealth by any means, forgetting that ill-gotten riches often lead to shame, imprisonment, or destruction. A friend’s observation reminds us: the younger generation sometimes disregards the weight of a good name, choosing shortcuts that tarnish their legacy.
