Title: A Good Name!

Scripture Foundation
- Proverbs 22:1 — “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”  
- Ecclesiastes 7:1 — “A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.”  

The Bible makes it clear that reputation and integrity are treasures more valuable than wealth. Riches may fade, but a good name endures across generations.

Reflection:
When we were young, we were taught to guard our lives with prudence, honesty, and diligence. These values shaped our character and protected our family names. Today, many are tempted to chase wealth by any means, forgetting that ill-gotten riches often lead to shame, imprisonment, or destruction.  
  A friend’s observation reminds us: the younger generation sometimes disregards the weight of a good name, choosing shortcuts that tarnish their legacy. Yet, as parents and elders, we carry the responsibility to teach that obedience, hard work, and integrity are the true path to lasting success.

Biblical Examples:
- Joseph in Egypt — Though falsely accused and imprisoned, Joseph maintained his integrity. In the end, his good name brought him favour before Pharaoh and salvation for his family (Genesis 39–41).  
- Daniel in Babylon — Daniel refused to defile himself with the king’s food. His good name and faithfulness led to promotion and influence, even in exile (Daniel 1:8–9).  
- Jesus Christ — The ultimate example of a good name. Though He had no earthly riches, His obedience to the Father gave Him “the name which is above every name” (Philippians 2:9).

Lessons for Today:
- Integrity: Wealth without righteousness is fleeting; integrity builds a legacy.  
- Parenting: Parents must instill values of honesty and obedience in their children.  
- Hard Work: Diligence and perseverance lead to sustainable success.  
- Legacy: A good name blesses not only us but generations after us.

Prayer: Lord, help us to value a good name above riches. Teach us to walk in integrity, to train our children in righteousness, and to leave behind a legacy of faith and honour. May our lives reflect Your glory, and may our names be associated with obedience, love, and truth. Amen.

Luke 6:38 (KJV) declares:   "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." Devotion:  In life, generosity is more than a noble virtue; it is a spiritual principle deeply rooted in the Word of God. The Bible teaches us that giving is not just an obligation but an invitation to experience divine abundance.   This verse speaks of a truth that transcends time—the certainty that when we give from a sincere heart, God ensures we receive abundantly in return. Genesis 17:1  And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. Devotion: Walking with God is more than just a phrase—it is a way of life, an intimate journey of faith, trust, and obedience. Throughout the Bible, we see individuals who walked with God and experienced His guidance, protection, and blessings.
