Title: Covetousness.

Scripture Focus:  
"And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth." — Luke 12:15 KJV 

Reflection:
Covetousness is a subtle yet destructive desire. It is not merely wanting something, but craving it in a way that displaces trust in God and distorts our priorities. Jesus warns us that life is not measured by possessions. True life is found in Him, not in material abundance.  
  Paul echoes this in 1 Timothy 6:6-7: “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” Covetousness blinds us to eternal realities, making us chase shadows while neglecting the substance of God’s kingdom.  
  The danger of covetousness is vividly illustrated in the parable of the rich fool (Luke 12:16-21). He stored up treasures for himself but was not rich toward God. His life ended suddenly, and all his wealth could not save him.  

Application:
- Contentment: Learn to rest in God’s provision. Hebrews 13:5 reminds us, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”  
- Generosity: Instead of hoarding, we are called to share. Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”  
- Eternal Perspective: Jesus urges us in Matthew 6:19-20 to lay up treasures in heaven, where moth and rust cannot destroy. 
 
Prayer: Lord, deliver me from the grip of covetousness. Teach me to find joy in Your presence and contentment in Your provision. Help me to live generously, storing treasures in heaven rather than clinging to the fleeting riches of earth. Amen.

Luke 6:38 (KJV) declares:   "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." Devotion:  In life, generosity is more than a noble virtue; it is a spiritual principle deeply rooted in the Word of God.
