Topic: Choices!

Genesis 13:10-11  And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
Devotion: In this life we all have had to make a choice, in fact several choices on seemingly innocuous matter. We often don't think deep on the consequences of our choices. A simple matter such as choosing  a car, school or church can  have generational impact that can either be positive or negative.
Looking at the story of Lot from the passage above he chose the fertile land in the plain of Jordan. A right choice one would think, but there was Sodom and Gomorrah towns filled with sinful persons marked for destruction by God. Lot even made his tent near Sodom and later moved with him family into the town. He prospered, became very rich but he lost his wife and all his landed property.
We know the incest between Lot and his daughters which led to birth of children who were patriarchs of Moabites and Ammonites. The two nations became enemies of Israel the grand children of Abraham.
Dear young men and women reading today's devotional, there are very important choices before you that you may not be able to correct or correct with very bad consequences in future. You want to choose a life partner, carrier, place to live please take it to God. Further down the chapter (Gen 13) God redirected Abraham to the land of Cannanites where he prospered. I urge you not to take a decision on impulse especially when it comes to choice of wife or husband. Simple words like " I love you" when you don't even mean it, is a serious matter to some people which if you renege your life can be in jeopardy. May that not be your experience in Jesus name.
Parents should counsel their wards on these matter, make sure they follow God's way before chosing a spouse (Gen 24). Abraham's servant prayed before Isaac got his spouse.
Dear reader, what is your experience on this? Please share with us so that we can learn. Shalom.
