Matthew 20:28 KJV
[28] even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Devotion: This verse could be properly comprehended by reading from verse 25, where the teaching on servant leadership started. Jesus says in vs 25 "Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them." This is what happens in politics, some people will pretend to be Leaders ready to serve the people but once in power they become lords, rulers and start to oppress the people. They suppress opposition and the press.
But Jesus says "it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:" because this is the right thing to do.
As servants in God's vineyard we should lead by example. We should be humble, loving, kind, ready to follow and not seek our own interest above other's. We should subject our interest to that of the the followers. Remember Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. We must develop such humility. Then the people will recognize our leadership quality.
I urge you dear reader, to humble yourself so that God can lift you up, minister(serve) others and do not expect to be ministered to. Please share your thoughts on this with us here. Hallelujah.
