Title: Priestly Blessings!
Numbers 6:26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Devotion: Numbers 6:26 is part of the "Priestly Blessing", a sacred prayer that God instructed Moses to teach Aaron and his sons to bless the Israelites. This blessing is found in Numbers 6:22-27 and was given during the Israelites' journey through the wilderness after their liberation from Egypt. It was a time of uncertainty and challenges, and this blessing served as a powerful reminder of God's presence, favor, and peace with those who trust Him.
The phrase "The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace" signifies God's attention and favor toward His people. In biblical terms, God's "countenance" refers to His face or presence. When God lifts His countenance, it symbolizes His approval, grace, and peace being bestowed upon the individual.
In the Bible are several incidents of God's blessings on His people. You too can receive such blessings if you give your life to Christ.
These are some of the examples:
1. Psalm 29:11: "The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace." This verse emphasizes God's gift of peace to His people.
2. Isaiah 26:3: "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." It highlights the peace that comes from trusting in God.
3. John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Jesus speaks of the divine peace He offers to His followers.
These verses collectively underscore the importance of God's peace and presence in the lives of believers. Are you ready to receive God's peace and blessings, accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour today. Forsake your sins and start living in obedience. You'll have peace. Hallelujah!
