Title: In a Time Like This!
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." – Psalm 46:1 (KJV)
Devotion: Life often brings us to seasons of uncertainty, trial, and loss, when the weight of the world feels unbearable. In such moments, we may ask, *Where is God?* or *How can I endure this storm?* Yet, the Word of God reminds us that He is not distant or indifferent to our struggles—He is near, actively working, and faithful to His promises.
The Story of Elijah
The story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19 is a profound reminder of God’s care during difficult times. After his incredible victory on Mount Carmel, Elijah fled into the wilderness, overwhelmed by fear and exhaustion. He felt isolated and hopeless, crying out to God, "It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life" (1 Kings 19:4).
But God did not rebuke Elijah. Instead, He tenderly ministered to his needs. An angel brought him food and water and let him rest. Then, in a still small voice, God reassured Elijah of His presence and purpose.
In a time like this, when you feel drained and defeated, remember Elijah. God knows your weariness and will provide exactly what you need—be it strength, guidance, or comfort. His still small voice can bring peace to your storm.
Jesus Calms the Storm
In Mark 4:35-41, we read about Jesus and His disciples caught in a ferocious storm on the Sea of Galilee. As the waves crashed against the boat, the disciples panicked, crying, "Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?"
But Jesus, in His divine authority, simply said, "Peace, be still," and the storm obeyed Him. In awe, the disciples wondered, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"
This story reminds us that Jesus has power over every storm we face. In a time like this, when life feels chaotic and overwhelming, call on the One who commands the wind and waves. He is with you, and His peace surpasses understanding.
Encouragement for Today
Let these truths anchor your heart:
- God is *with* you: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God" (Isaiah 41:10).
- God is *for* you: "If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31).
- God is *faithful*: "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning" (Lamentations 3:22-23).
A Prayer for This Time
Heavenly Father,
In times like this, when trials surround us and fears arise, remind us of Your presence. Help us to rest in Your promises and trust in Your strength. Calm the storms in our hearts, just as Jesus calmed the sea. Renew our faith and fill us with Your peace. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Lean on the Lord, dear reader—He is your refuge and ever-present help. *IN A TIME LIKE THIS,* may you find hope and strength in Him.
