Title: Rescue Yourself from Your Natural Man.
Scripture Focus: “For the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him…” (1 Corinthians 2:14) KJV.
Devotion: The “natural man” represents our fallen nature — the part of us that is drawn to sin, selfishness, and rebellion against God. Left unchecked, it leads us deeper into darkness, away from the life Jesus offers. To “rescue yourself” from this state means recognizing that the natural man cannot save itself. It must be surrendered.
Evil often disguises itself as pleasure, convenience, or freedom. Yet its end is destruction. Scripture urges us to “flee youthful lusts” (2 Timothy 2:22) and “resist the devil” (James 4:7). Running away from evil is not cowardice — it is wisdom. It is choosing life over death, light over darkness.
Rescue is not found in our strength but in Christ. Jesus is the only one who can transform the natural man into a spiritual man. He invites us: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). When we run to Him, He clothes us with righteousness, renews our minds, and empowers us to walk in holiness.
Reflection and Prayer:
- Self-examination: Am I living by the desires of the natural man or by the Spirit?
- Decision: Will I run from evil today and run toward Christ?
Prayer: “Lord Jesus, rescue me from my natural man. Help me to flee evil and cling to You. Transform me by Your Spirit so I may live a life pleasing to You. Amen.”
In conclusion, to rescue yourself from your natural man is not about self-effort but about surrender. Run away from evil, yes — but more importantly, run to Jesus. He is the safe refuge, the strong tower, and the only one who can make you new.
I have decided to follow Jesus what of you? Make the decision today tomorrow maybe too late. (2Cor 6:2). Share this with your contacts. Dr Joel Olanrewaju gbemide09@gmail.com.
