Title: Avoid Covetousness if You Want to Lead Others.

Scripture Focus: Exodus 18:21  
"Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, HATING COVETOUSNESS; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens."  

Reflection: Covetousness, as defined by Merriam-Webster, is an inordinate desire for wealth or possessions, or for what belongs to another. The Bible warns us repeatedly against this destructive spirit. “Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth” (Luke 12:15).  
  Sadly, in many churches today, prosperity teaching has overshadowed the message of holiness and heaven. Some preach that once you have given your life to Christ, you can live however you please because your sins are forgiven. This is contrary to Scripture, which calls us to “be ye holy; for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16).  
  Many leaders, clothed in fine garments and eloquent accents, peddle heresies. They sell olive oil, handkerchiefs, and even pens at exorbitant prices, claiming these items bring protection or success. In truth, these practices exploit the faithful. They accumulate wealth, living in palaces and riding in convoys, while their congregants—who sacrifice to give—remain in poverty.  
  But the Word of God is clear: “For the love of money is the root of all evil” (1 Timothy 6:10). Leaders who chase wealth risk losing their souls. Jesus Himself said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).  

Call to Action: 
Beloved, I urge you to cultivate a discerning spirit. Read the Word of God and pray for understanding so that you will not be deceived or robbed of your hard-earned resources. There is no shortcut to heaven. You must surrender your life to Christ and live daily in obedience to His commands.  
  Avoid covetousness. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Remember, no matter how wealthy you become on earth, you cannot take a single dime with you into eternity. Excessive desire for riches can blind you to heaven’s call.
