Title: Hubris, a Step Towards Destruction.

Scripture Reading
- “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” — Proverbs 16:18
- “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” — James 4:6
- “When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid… so he consulted a medium for guidance.” — 1 Samuel 28:5–7

Reflection: Pride is one of the most subtle yet dangerous sins. It creeps into the heart when achievements, blessings, or spiritual victories are mistakenly attributed to human effort rather than God’s grace. The Bible makes it clear that God detests pride because it shifts glory away from Him and places it on fragile human beings.
King Saul is a sobering example. Once chosen and anointed by God, his disobedience and pride led him to lose favor. Instead of repenting, he sought strength in forbidden places, consulting occult powers when the Spirit of God had departed. His downfall was not sudden—it was a gradual erosion of humility, prayer, and dependence on God.
Even today, ministers and believers alike must guard against spiritual hubris. When God works miracles through us, it is not our power but His. To claim glory for ourselves is to invite destruction. Pride blinds us, weakens our spiritual disciplines, and eventually leaves us vulnerable to deception.
Lessons for today include the following:
- Pride leads to downfall: Achievements without humility become stumbling blocks.
- God resists the proud: Divine favor is withdrawn when pride dominates.
- Humility sustains grace: Fasting, prayer, and Scripture keep us dependent on God.
- Saul’s example: A warning that neglecting God’s presence leads to ruin.
Prayer: Lord, keep me humble before You. Remind me that every achievement, every blessing, and every victory comes from Your hand. Deliver me from pride and self-glory. May I always give You the honor due Your name, and may Your Spirit never depart from me. Amen.

Do you self adulate? Refrain from it today, testimony waits you; please feel free to share this with your contacts. Shalom.
