In the world today, love has been misrepresented by various kinds of lust. True love is patient, is kind, promotes others, is not boastful, and is not proud. Anything parading itself as love that lacks any of the above qualities is not love. If we claim we love the brethren and our actions lack the qualities of love, we are hypocrites. Also, when we show love to the brethren, we should not expect them to pay us back but rather expect the reward from our Lord Jesus Christ. Finally, we should come to the point where we show love to others because it is good to love and not because we will be rewarded in the end. The Israelites were also fond of doing that when they were in the wilderness. They complained and murmured when they encountered any challenges or difficulties, and they were quick to praise their time in Egypt even though they were subjected to forced labor there. Matthew 3:17" Devotion : While Jesus Christ walked this earth, He was baptized by John the Baptist. After the baptism, He obtained a witness from the Holy Spirit, and John the Baptist also heard this voice of witness. In the same way, we also need this witness from the Holy Spirit that we are the children of God.
