Title: Mistrust — When Faith Falters.

Scripture Focus: “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them?’” — Numbers 14:11 (NLT)

The Weight of Mistrust: Mistrust is a slow poison. It corrodes relationships, stifles progress, and blinds us to the goodness of God. In the wilderness, the Israelites had seen the Red Sea part, manna fall from heaven, and water spring from a rock. Yet, when they stood at the edge of the Promised Land, they chose fear over faith. They believed the report of ten spies who saw giants, rather than trusting the God who had already conquered Egypt for them.
Their mistrust wasn’t just a lack of confidence in Moses—it was a rejection of God’s character. Despite His faithfulness, they doubted His intentions. They questioned His power. And they forgot His promises.

A Closer Look: Peter on the Water: Fast forward to the New Testament. Peter walks on water toward Jesus. For a moment, his trust is pure. But then the wind howls, the waves rise, and mistrust creeps in. He begins to sink—not because Jesus failed him, but because he stopped believing Jesus could hold him up.
Mistrust often begins when we shift our gaze from God to our circumstances.

What Mistrust Reveals: Mistrust reveals our deepest fears:
- That God might not come through.
- That we are alone in our battles.
- That our past pain will repeat itself.

But mistrust also reveals a spiritual opportunity: to confront those fears and choose faith anyway.

Reflection:  Where have you allowed mistrust to take root? Is it in your finances, your relationships, your calling? What promises of God have you forgotten?

Prayer:  Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve doubted You. Help me to remember Your faithfulness, even when the path ahead looks uncertain. Teach me to trust You more deeply, to walk by faith and not by sight. Amen.

Final Encouragement: God doesn’t abandon us when we struggle with mistrust. He meets us there—like He did with Thomas, with Gideon, with Sarah. But He also calls us higher. He invites us to remember, to believe, and to trust again.
Today, choose trust. Even if your knees are shaking. Even if the giants look big. Because the God who parted the sea is still leading you forward.
