Title: Pure Religion

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
James 1:27 NKJV
Devotion: Religion is a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith in any material thing or the supernatural eg Sun, Moon, idols or animal or the general overseer of a denomination. 
 Religion is different from Doctrine which is a principle or position or the body of principles in a branch of knowledge or system of belief. It is a learned set of habits that became a set of rules for a group, society or sect. Thus a church denomination can have a doctrine.  
 In Christendom the true religion is defined by God through Christ and His Apostles, it is "to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." This means to help the helpless, those who cannot pay back, the weak, the sick, orphan and aged widow. The second part is Faith in God through Jesus Christ His son while the third is to live blameless life. All three components must be complete. 
  Dearly beloved, let's us sift the flour from the shaft and know the true religion. May God help us all in Jesus name. Hallelujah.

Psalms 90:10  The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Devotional: Late music legend – Peter Tosh sang a song with this title many years ago. It came to mind yesterday while I listened to a beautifully delivered sermon at a burial.
