Title: New day, New Mercy!
"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV
Devotion: God’s mercy is the quiet miracle that meets us every morning. Jeremiah, in the midst of grief and devastation, declared in Lamentations 3:22–23 that “because of the Lord’s great mercy we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Even when life feels heavy with yesterday’s burdens, mercy arrives like the dawn—fresh, undeserved, and unwavering.
Paul echoes this truth in Ephesians 2:4–5, reminding us that God, rich in mercy, did not leave us in our sin but made us alive in Christ. Mercy is not simply God’s pity; it is His active love that rescues, restores, and breathes life into what was dead.
The psalmist captures it beautifully: “He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his mercy for those who fear him” (Psalm 103:10–11). Mercy stretches beyond our failures, reaching higher than we can imagine, wider than we can comprehend.
This mercy is not a one-time gift but a daily invitation. Each sunrise whispers that God has not given up on us. Each breath is evidence that His compassion is still at work. And because we have received mercy, we are called to reflect it—to forgive as we have been forgiven, to show patience where we have been shown grace, to extend kindness where we have been met with compassion.
Titus 3:5 reminds us that salvation itself is rooted not in our righteousness but in His mercy. We stand today not because we earned it, but because He chose to love us in spite of ourselves.
So let us rest in His mercy, receive it anew each day, and reflect it to the world around us. And let our prayer be simple: “Father, thank You for Your endless mercy. Thank You that every morning I wake up to fresh compassion and grace. Help me to live in the freedom of Your mercy and to show that same mercy to others. May my life be a testimony of Your great love. Amen.”
