Title: Acknowledgement and Giving Thanks.
Scripture Foundation
- Psalm 100:4 – “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 – “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
- James 1:17 – “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…”
Devotion: Thanksgiving is not just a polite response to blessings—it is a spiritual discipline that acknowledges God as the source of all good things.
Acknowledgement means recognizing God’s presence and power in every aspect of life. When we acknowledge Him, we humble ourselves, admitting that our strength, wisdom, and provision come from Him.
The stories below are examples of people who acknowledged God and gave thanks.
- Story of the Ten Lepers (Luke 17:11–19): Out of ten healed, only one returned to thank Jesus. His gratitude was not just acknowledgment of healing but recognition of Jesus as Lord.
- David’s Praise (2 Samuel 7:18–22): After God promised him an everlasting dynasty, David sat before the Lord and acknowledged His greatness, saying, “Who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?”
Acknowledgement shifts our focus from self to God, reminding us that we are recipients of His mercy and grace.
There is Power in Giving thanks, thanksgiving is more than words—it is an attitude of the heart. It transforms worry into worship and trials into testimonies.
- Paul and Silas in Prison (Acts 16:25–26): At midnight, they prayed and sang hymns of thanksgiving. Their gratitude in hardship led to a miraculous deliverance.
- Jesus Feeding the 5,000 (John 6:11): Before multiplying the loaves and fish, Jesus gave thanks. Gratitude preceded abundance.
When we give thanks, we invite God’s presence into our situation. Gratitude opens the door for miracles.
Practical Application:
1. Daily Acknowledgement: Begin each day by recognizing God’s goodness—thank Him for life, health, and opportunities.
2. Gratitude in Trials: Even in challenges, thank God for His faithfulness. This strengthens your faith and brings peace.
3. Public Testimony: Share your gratitude with others. Like the healed leper, return to give glory to God openly.
Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father, we acknowledge You as the giver of every good gift. Teach us to live with grateful hearts, to thank You in all circumstances, and to recognize Your hand in our lives. May our thanksgiving bring glory to Your name and draw others to Your light. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
