Title: Spilled Water and the Hope of Eternal Life.

Text: “For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.”
2 Samuel 14:14 (KJV)
Devotional Message: The wise woman of Tekoa used a powerful illustration when she said that human beings are “as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again.” Once water is poured onto the earth, it quickly disappears and cannot be recovered. In the same way, every human life on earth is temporary. Whether rich or poor, young or old, educated or uneducated, we all have an appointment with death.
The Scriptures confirm this solemn truth:“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27
No one knows the day or the hour of his departure from this world. Many make plans for tomorrow, next year, or even decades ahead, but life itself is a gift that can cease at any moment. The Psalmist prayed:
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
The reality of death should cause us to consider where we stand with God today.
God's Merciful Plan: While the first part of our text speaks of death, the second part reveals God's wonderful grace:
“Yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.”
Humanity became separated from God because of sin. Since the fall of Adam, mankind has been spiritually banished from God's presence.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
Yet God, in His great love and mercy, devised a way of salvation. He did not leave humanity without hope. He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to reconcile sinners back to Himself.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
The cross was not an accident; it was God's divine plan to save those who were lost. Jesus came to seek and save those who were separated from God.
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10
Life Is Found Only in Christ: God's means of salvation is not religion, good works, human effort, or personal righteousness. God's answer is Jesus Christ alone.
Jesus declared: “I am the way, the the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through me.
I urge you to come to Christ today tomorrow might be too late. The bible says today is the appointed time. Do not postpone your salvation till tomorrow because it is not certain.
God bless you as you come to Jesus now. Share your testimony with us here and preach the gospel to someone. Share this with your contacts. ©Dr Joel Olanrewaju gbemide09@gmail.com.
