Title: A new name, new Identity!

Devotion: If your are reading this, you probably have given your life to Christ and become a child of God; if you have not praise God and be happy because you'll probably secure the new identity today. The message is apt for all.
 By your confession and acceptance of Christ as Lord and Saviour you become a child of God not by birth but by adoption. It is Grace to be adopted into the household of God we cannot work for it or buy it. We get a new identity, new name and old things passed away. At the moment of our adoption, our old identities no longer matter. Every unkind name we were given, every mistake we’ve made, every hurt we’ve experienced (or caused)—it’s all erased. Our identity, security, and future are now rooted in the God who loves us and died for us. The Bible says in 2 Cor. 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."   It is joy to become new person in Christ because we now belong to the household of God, a co-heir with Christ.
 Now why is this message important? It is important because we must constantly remind ourselves who we are in Christ and continue to pray and work hard reading the word of God. It is important to have the Holy Spirit in us lest we stumble, backslide and lose our identity. So this reminder is important to you and me. 
  To someone yet to get the new identity today is the day to give your life because according to the Bible in 2 Cor 6 vs 2 tomorrow might be too late, nobody knows the date and time Jesus Christ will come or day God will say come home dear child.

Devotional: Late music legend – Peter Tosh sang a song with this title many years ago. It came to mind yesterday while I listened to a beautifully delivered sermon at a burial.
