Title: The Mission of God: Living a Life of Purpose.
Acts 20:24 KJV
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Devotion: Our lives are instruments for a greater purpose. While building a family, career, and accumulating possessions are not inherently wrong, they can divert our attention from our ultimate goal. In the book of Acts, we witness Paul's transformation after encountering Jesus. Empowered by God's grace, Paul dedicates his life to spreading the good news of Jesus, recognizing that nothing surpasses the significance of God's work.
Paul's singular focus is to complete the mission of God, testifying to His grace: "I consider my life worth nothing unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others about the goodness of God's grace" (Acts 20:24 NIV).
The mission of God is not at odds with growing families or building careers; rather, God desires us to utilize these opportunities to fulfill His mission. We can raise families according to God's ways and share His grace with coworkers. Every circumstance can become a chance to advance the mission of God.
Take a moment to reflect on your life and how you allocate your time. Are you maximizing every opportunity to share the good news of Jesus? Does your life, like Paul's, point toward God? Consider ways to shift your perspective and live a life on mission for God.
