Title: True Beauty

‭Proverbs 31:30 KJV‬
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: But a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Devotion.
In my university days, I was surrounded by beautiful and charming ladies, desirable to any handsome man. However, at a recent reunion, I struggled to recognize some of them due to the effects of aging. Time had taken its toll, and the beauty and charm of their youth were gone. This reminded me of Proverbs 31:30, which says, "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

Aging affects us all, regardless of gender. Men develop pot bellies, wrinkles, and eventually walk with sticks. We become bent and fragile. This is a truth we all know but often pretend not to know. Physical beauty and charm are temporary, but inner beauty, rooted in the fear of God, is eternal.

My counsel to young women and men is to revere God and prioritize what pleases Him. Don't rely on physical beauty, charm, or charisma, but cultivate inner beauty through the fear of God. If you know a woman who loves and respects God, honors and cares for people, invests wisely, and lives purposefully, thank God for her life and consider how you can emulate her example. This is what God requires of us.

May the Lord keep us in Jesus' name. Hallelujah!
