Title: The Secure Refuge in God's Grace

Today's devotional is based on Hymn 831 from CAC Gospel Hymn Book. Be blessed as you prayerfully read it.  2 Corinthians 12:9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Devotion:  In life's tempestuous journey, the Christian pilgrim is often met with swirling storms and uncharted waters. Yet, there stands an unshakeable promise—a refuge that anchors the soul amidst the chaos: “My grace is sufficient for thee” (2 Corinthians 12:9). This divine assurance reminds us that, in every trial and test, God's provision is both matchless and boundless. A Call to Trust   The opening stanza of the hymn draws attention to the security found in trusting the Lord. Just as a ship relies on its anchor to hold firm against crashing waves, so must believers place their faith in the steadfastness of God's grace. Reflect on the wo...

Title: Failed Relationships!

Judges 16:19 KJV (please read the whole chapter)And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him. Devotion: Failed relationships can leave scars on the heart and mind, making us question our worth, choices, and path forward. Yet, Scripture reminds us that even in moments of brokenness, God's grace, love, and guidance remain steadfast. Through biblical stories, we see how individuals faced relational setbacks but still found restoration and purpose in God's plan.  Consider the story of David and Michal (1 Samuel 18, 2 Samuel 6). Michal, David's first wife, initially loved him, but their relationship became strained due to misunderstandings and differing priorities. Her disdain for David's worshipful dance before the Lord reveals the disconnect between them. Their story reminds us that relationships can falter when partners are misalign...

Title: Increase Our Faith.

Luke 17:5 KJV. And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. Devotion:  Lord Jesus, we yearn to embody the zeal You displayed for God, a passion that consumed Your every moment on earth. May we discover Your spirit of compassion for mankind, as it is written, “The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion” (Psalm 116:5). Let Your love, unwavering and boundless, ignite within us, burning as a flame that purifies and renews.   Dwell in our hearts, Lord, as promised: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?” (1 Corinthians 6:19). Move within us with mercies that overflow, shaping every thought and action. Just as You declare, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy” (Matthew 5:7), transform our lives into living demonstrations of Your grace.   With fervent faith, let our zeal be fueled by divine love—a pure flame that glows with sincerity and sacrifice. May...

Title: Go Ye

Matthew 28:19-20  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen Devotion: Matthew 28:19-20 is known as the Great Commission, where Jesus instructs His disciples to spread His teachings to all nations. The passage reads:   "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."(KJV)   This command emphasizes three key actions: 1. Go and make disciples– Jesus calls His followers to actively share the gospel and bring others into faith. 2. Baptize them – Baptism symbolizes a believer’s commitment to Christ and their inclusion in the Christian community. 3. Teach them to obe...

Title: Jesus, the Great light.

Isaiah 9:2 KJV [2] The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.  Devotion: In Isaiah 9:2, a prophecy speaks of a great light breaking through the darkness, offering hope to those living in shadow. This light is Jesus Christ, foretold as the Savior who would bring salvation not only to Israel, God's chosen nation, but to all people—including Gentiles, non-Jews from diverse nations. Though Jesus was rejected by many of His own people, He was embraced by countless Gentiles, fulfilling prophecies like Isaiah 49:6 and bringing light to the world.   Jesus is the great light that dispels darkness, transforming lives and offering hope to all, regardless of history, heritage, or circumstance. Through Him, we move from darkness into light.  Dear reader, have you seen the light? As I wrote above Jesus is the great light, I urge to embrace Jesus today. The light in your heart will not ...

Title: Husbands

Colossians 3:19  Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Devotion: The verse Colossians 3:19 serves as a guiding principle for marital relationships, emphasizing the importance of love and kindness from husbands towards their wives. It advises husbands to cultivate a loving environment, free from bitterness, which can be corrosive to the relationship. This verse underscores the significance of mutual respect and understanding in marriage.   In Ephesians 5:25, husbands are similarly exhorted to love their wives, with the added dimension of sacrificial love: "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." This reinforces the idea that a husband's love for his wife should be selfless and enduring.   Furthermore, 1 Peter 3:7 advises husbands to live with their wives in an understanding way, showing honor and respect: "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with resp...

Title: God Brings the Growth

1 Corinthians 3:7 KJV [7] So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.  Devotion: Have you ever felt like evangelism is just too much? Too hard? Like the whole thing depends on you—and you’re already tired? You're not alone in that. And thankfully, you're not meant to do it all.   1 Corinthians 3:7 reminds us: “So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”. This verse lifts the pressure off our shoulders. It’s not all up to you.   God is the one who brings growth. That’s His role. Ours is simply to take small, faithful steps—planting seeds of truth, kindness, encouragement, or prayer—and trusting God to do what only He can do.   And here’s something beautiful: we don’t do this in isolation. Evangelism isn’t a solo act—it’s a shared mission. Across the world, in neighbourhoods and cities, believers are living this out together. You might plant, someo...

Title: Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving.

Psalm 100:4 "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." Devotion: Thanksgiving is not just an act of gratitude; it is a spiritual key that opens doors to divine blessings and favor. The Word of God encourages us to give thanks in all circumstances, as seen in 1 Thessalonians 5:18: "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." This act of thanksgiving draws God's attention and invites His presence into our lives.   Starting prayers with thanksgiving is a powerful practice. It allows us to reflect on God's goodness and recognize His blessings in our lives. Philippians 4:6 reinforces this: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Thanksgiving not only uplifts our spirits but also fills our hearts with cheerfulness, as expressed in Psalm 28:7...

Title: Your Responsibility as a Wife: A Biblical Perspective.

Proverbs 14:1  Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. Devotion : Marriage is not merely an achievement; it is a covenant before God (Malachi 2:14). It requires dedication, love, and hard work. Many women, after the wedding, forget the essence of their role as a wife. They neglect their responsibilities, leaving their homes unkempt and their husbands feeling unsupported. Yet, Proverbs 14:1 reminds us, "The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down."   Marriage is not for the faint-hearted. It is a journey of service and companionship. Wives, are called to be helpers, as stated in Genesis 2:18: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." This role is not one of servitude but of partnership, where love and respect flourish.   A husband seeks a companion who uplifts him, prays for him, and welcomes him with warmth after a long day. Proverbs 31:26...

Title: Significance of Easter!

John 11:25-26 KJV [25] Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: [26] and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?  Devotion: Easter, often regarded as the cornerstone of Christian faith, celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This event, as described in the Bible, signifies victory over sin and death, offering believers the promise of eternal life. It is a time of profound reflection, gratitude, and hope, as it underscores the depth of God's love and the fulfillment of His redemptive plan.   The resurrection is not merely an event but a transformative truth that shapes the lives of Christians. As Jesus declared in John 11:25-26, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live." This verse encapsulates the essence of Easter, emphasizing that faith in Christ transcends even death.   Romans 6:9 further reinfor...

Title: Random Guide on Marriage!

Genesis 2:24  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Devotion: I am in a weeding party, so this topic attracts my attention. Hopefully it will assist some readers. Marriage is a sacred bond that requires effort and dedication to thrive. The Bible provides valuable insights and guidance on navigating its challenges, offering stories and verses that address marriage problems and their solutions.   The story of Abraham and Sarah serves as a reminder of the importance of patience and faith in God's timing. Despite facing challenges when Sarah suggested Abraham have a child with Hagar due to her inability to conceive, they eventually saw the fulfillment of God's promise when Sarah gave birth to Isaac.   The marriage of Hosea and Gomer is a powerful symbol of God's unwavering love for His people. Despite Gomer's infidelity, Hosea chose to forgive and commit to their relationship, demonstrating the tr...

Title: Physical and Spiritual Health!

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and BE IN HEALTH, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2 Devotion: Our bodies are extraordinary gifts from God, intricately designed and imbued with purpose. The Bible reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, sacred vessels entrusted to us for His glory. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, we are told, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." This verse calls us to honor God through the care and stewardship of our physical health.   Exercise and health are not merely about physical appearance or personal achievement; they are acts of worship. Romans 12:1 urges us, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship." W...

Title: Contentment.

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5" Devotion: Communication is a powerful tool and has many benefits but it can also be a tool for the enemy to take advantage of. Covetousness shows up in our conversation when we are not satisfied with what our God is doing in our life. Covetousness is an evil desire to claim what is not naturally yours.    Contentment and God's unwavering presence are powerful themes that can bring peace and strength to our lives. Hebrews 13:5 reminds us, "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."    Please note that contentment does not mean lack of aspiration but aspiration should be legally pursued, bring glory to God.    The story of the widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17 illustrates the power of con...

Title: A Whole New World.

Matthew 21:43 NIV [43] “Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.  Devotion: In the Parable of the Tenants, Jesus tells a story of a landowner who plants a vineyard, rents it to some farmers, and when the owner sends his servants to collect the fruit, the farmers strike them down.     When the owner sends his own son to collect, they even kill him, too.     And it leaves the owner with just one option: it’s time to pass along the land to some other farmers.     This parable reflects the rejection Jesus faced. The Son of God had come to a world meant to bear fruit for the kingdom, but instead, He found it barren. By week’s end, the Son Himself would be struck down.   Jesus’ words here are both a challenge and a comfort.    The challenge? Fruitfulness matters. God’s kingdom isn’t about titles, traditions, or appearances—it’s about producing the...

Title: Love That Enables

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 22:37-39 KJV Devotion: Are you struggling to love people, especially the challenging ones and your enemies? We know we are called to love because this is the Lord’s commandment for us. But why is biblical love, so simple in words, truly difficult to accomplish when we’re faced with unloving people?   Beloved, we are to love God, the greatest commandment, and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, the second greatest commandment. The only way we can truly fulfill the second commandment is when we love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Loving God enables us to love people, even the most difficult ones. When we really love God, we will seek Him and His ways to apply His words and principles in our lives. It then gets easy when our eyes...

Title: Hard times!

[11] For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV Devotion:  Losing a job can be tough, but faith can be a powerful source of comfort. The story of Joseph, who faced betrayal and hardship yet trusted God's plan, is a great reminder that even in dark times, good can emerge. As Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."   When uncertainty hits, seeking God's guidance can bring peace. Elijah's experience in the wilderness shows that God cares for us in our lowest moments. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."   Relying on God's provision can also bring hope. The story of the widow ...

Title: Under His Wings!

Psalms 91:7  A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Devotion : Psalm 91:7 is a powerful verse that emphasizes divine protection and the assurance that God's children are shielded from harm. The imagery of "a thousand falling at thy side and ten thousand at thy right hand" paints a vivid picture of overwhelming danger and chaos surrounding the believer. Yet, the promise that "it shall not come nigh thee" reassures us of God's unwavering protection. This devotion highlights the reward of the wicked, which is their downfall when they attempt to harm God's people. It reminds believers that they are safeguarded by heavenly forces, such as angels, who work tirelessly to ensure that no harm comes near them. This assurance is meant to instill courage and faith, urging believers not to fear their enemies, as their fate has already been determined by divine justice. The broader context of Psalm 91 sp...

Title: Go Ye!

Matthew 9:37-38 NIV Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Devotion: Have you ever shared the good news of Jesus with someone in your life?    When Jesus was teaching and training the twelve disciples, he often used imagery and metaphors that were part of their culture to communicate important truths to them. In Matthew 9:37-38, Jesus relates the work that He is doing to a farmer’s work in the field.   Jesus says that the people who do not know Jesus are like a field of grain that is ready to be harvested. But, there are not enough workers to go and harvest among the fields. Jesus says to pray that God would send more workers to gather the harvest.   Essentially, there are people that are ready and willing to hear and respond to the gospel message, the hope that Jesus brings for every person. But when Jesus says "the workers are few" (Matthe...

Title: Jesus Christ, the Ultimate Deliverer.

"Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence." (Psalm 91:3, NIV).  Devotion:  Yahweh is our Deliverer, our refuge in times of trouble, protecting us from every trap and attack of the enemy. Just as an eagle shields her young, so Yahweh shelters us beneath His mighty wings. His truth is revealed in His Word, which serves as our shield and buckler—our defense against all harm.   In John 1:1 and 1:14, Jesus is described as the Word who existed with God from the beginning and is God himself, who became human and lived among people, full of grace and truth.    Meditating on the Word of God brings freedom and transformation. As we establish robust relationship with God through his word - the Scriptures, we are emboldened with courage, healed of our afflictions, nourished with divine wisdom, energized by His Spirit, protected from harm, and matured for Christ's glory. "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my pat...

Title: Are you able to teach?

"A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 1 Timothy 3:2" Devotion : God wants His leaders to be able to teach His Word to the coming generation so His Word will still be relevant to the next generation. If this does not go on, there will come a generation that does not know the Word of God and that generation will be a tool in the hands of the enemy.  That generation is here already because teachers are not enough. The second reason is that people refused to learn the word of God. They are preoccupied will social media tools.   The children of God need to double effort to get the message out to the world. We need revival and it must start from within us then our churches and world-wide. The church also need prayer warriors who will pray so that holy spirit will harvest the souls. The job cannot be done by human effort, may God help us.  Dear reader, do you know how to teach? If you do...

Title: The Name Above All Names.

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 NIV  Devotion: This verse boldly declares the exclusivity and sufficiency of Jesus Christ as the source of salvation. In a world filled with countless pursuits and philosophies, it is a profound truth that no other name under heaven holds the power to redeem us from sin and grant us eternal life. The name of Jesus carries authority, grace, and hope because of His sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the dead. His name is the ultimate declaration of love and victory.   John 14:6 echoes this sentiment, where Jesus Himself says, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." These words emphasize that salvation and reconciliation with God are found solely through Him. It's not about striving for perfection or earning His favor; instead, it is about placing our trust in the finished work ...

Topic: Love and Care for the Family and Relatives

1 Timothy 5:8 KJV But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. Devotion: The importance of being loved by family and relatives holds a special place in the Bible. It emphasizes the value of familial love as part of God's design for human relationships. 1. God's Command for Love Within Families: The Bible teaches that love among family members reflects God's love for humanity. For example, in Ephesians 6:1-4, children are instructed to honor their parents, and parents are called to bring up their children in the instruction of the Lord. Similarly, 1 Timothy 5:8 reminds believers to provide and care for their relatives, considering it a crucial aspect of faith. 2. The Example of Jesus' Love for His Family: Jesus Himself demonstrated love for His earthly family. While on the cross, He entrusted the care of His mother, Mary, to His disciple John (John 19:26-27). This act of concern show...

Title: Loneliness and being Ill.

Psalms 34:18  The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Devotion:  The Bible offers comfort and guidance for feelings of loneliness and illness, reminding us of God's presence and care. On Loneliness: God is with us: Psalm 23:4 - God's companionship brings trust and reassurance. - God hears the lonely: Psalm 34:18 - God comforts those who feel isolated or discouraged. - We belong to a community: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 - Relationships alleviate loneliness. On Being Sick: Healing through faith: James 5:14-15 - Prayer and God's power can heal. - God cares for our burdens: Matthew 11:28 - Jesus offers peace to those struggling with pain. - God restores health: Psalm 41:3 - God sustains and restores us during sickness.   These verses remind us that God is always present, offering hope, strength, comfort, healing, and restoration. Reflecting on our personal experiences can help us apply these principles and deepen our unders...

Title: Divine Role Model.

Hebrews 12:2 KJV Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Devotion:Jesus Christ is not merely an ordinary role model but a divine exemplar, perfectly embodying the principles of love, sacrifice, and faith. He transcends the limits of human virtues, offering believers a guide and inspiration that is rooted in divinity.   Looking Unto Jesus: The Perfect Example As Hebrews 12:2 highlights, Jesus endured the agony of the cross "for the joy that was set before Him," demonstrating unparalleled perseverance and hope. This joy was not rooted in momentary relief but in eternal victory—bringing salvation to humanity and glorifying God. He despised the shame of the cross but carried it willingly for the sake of love, proving His role as the "author and finisher of our faith."  - Romans 5:8: "But God demonstrates His own lo...

Title: The Consequences of a Quarrelsome Relationship Between Husband and Wife.

Quarrelsome relationships, especially in marriage, can lead to numerous challenges that disrupt peace, harmony, and the fulfillment of God’s design for the family. The Bible provides clear guidance on the impact of strife and the path to restoration. 1. Erosion of Trust and Intimacy: A marriage marked by constant quarreling weakens the trust and bond between spouses. Proverbs 21:19 warns, "It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman." This verse highlights the difficulty of living in peace when conflict dominates. Similarly, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 teaches us that love is patient and kind, not easily angered, and keeps no record of wrongs. Without these qualities, intimacy and trust erode. 2. Stress and Anxiety: Persistent disputes can lead to emotional and physical stress. God desires peace and rest for His children. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages believers to find peace in Him: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by praye...

Title: No to Disputes!

Philippians 2:14 KJV  "Do all things without murmurings and disputings." Devotion: Disputes and complaints are like weeds in the garden of progress. Where they thrive, harmony and growth wither. The Bible reminds us to avoid such behaviors, as they hinder not only our relationships with others but also our relationship with God. Disputing has negative impact on various aspects of life, let's examine its effect in the following areas.  1. The Impact of Disputes on Relationships: Siblings who constantly argue find it challenging to live in peace. Proverbs 17:1 says, "Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife." Harmony is more valuable than material abundance. - In the workplace, an employee who is quarrelsome and disobedient risks losing their job. Colossians 3:23-24 advises, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward."...
