Title: Go Ye
Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen
Devotion: Matthew 28:19-20 is known as the Great Commission, where Jesus instructs His disciples to spread His teachings to all nations. The passage reads:
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."(KJV)
This command emphasizes three key actions:
1. Go and make disciples– Jesus calls His followers to actively share the gospel and bring others into faith.
2. Baptize them – Baptism symbolizes a believer’s commitment to Christ and their inclusion in the Christian community.
3. Teach them to obey– Discipleship is not just about conversion but also about guiding others to live according to Christ’s teachings.
The Great Commission is a call for all believers, not just the original disciples. It highlights the universal nature of Christianity, urging followers to spread the message beyond their own communities.
