Title: No to Disputes!

Philippians 2:14 KJV  "Do all things without murmurings and disputings."

Devotion: Disputes and complaints are like weeds in the garden of progress. Where they thrive, harmony and growth wither. The Bible reminds us to avoid such behaviors, as they hinder not only our relationships with others but also our relationship with God.
Disputing has negative impact on various aspects of life, let's examine its effect in the following areas.
1. The Impact of Disputes on Relationships: Siblings who constantly argue find it challenging to live in peace. Proverbs 17:1 says, "Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife." Harmony is more valuable than material abundance.
- In the workplace, an employee who is quarrelsome and disobedient risks losing their job. Colossians 3:23-24 advises, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward." A cooperative spirit honors God and fosters success.
2. Disputing with God: Questioning God's will or doubting His plans can lead to spiritual stagnation. Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Trusting God requires humility and faith.
- When we impose our desires over God's will, we risk failure especially in the choice of spouse, job and where to live. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
3. The Role of Obedience in the Family:  Children are called to obey their parents, as this pleases the Lord. Ephesians 6:1-3 states, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother (this is the first commandment with a promise), that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land." Parents, guided by God's wisdom, provide invaluable counsel that should not be dismissed.
(Discussion on dispute in relationships and between couples will come up tomorrow)
4. God's Wisdom and Guidance: God's wisdom is a treasure found in His Word and through fellowship with mature believers. James 1:5 assures us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." Seeking wisdom from God and godly mentors leads to a life aligned with His will.
In conclusion, let us strive to live without murmurings and disputes, embracing peace and obedience in all areas of life. By doing so, we reflect the light of Christ in a world often marked by discord. As Philippians 2:15-16 says, "That you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life."

You're welcome to the month of April 2025. I pray the God will give you grace to live in harmony with Himself and with everyone else.
