Title: Love That Enables
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 22:37-39 KJV
Devotion: Are you struggling to love people, especially the challenging ones and your enemies? We know we are called to love because this is the Lord’s commandment for us. But why is biblical love, so simple in words, truly difficult to accomplish when we’re faced with unloving people?
Beloved, we are to love God, the greatest commandment, and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, the second greatest commandment. The only way we can truly fulfill the second commandment is when we love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Loving God enables us to love people, even the most difficult ones. When we really love God, we will seek Him and His ways to apply His words and principles in our lives. It then gets easy when our eyes are fixed on Him Whom we are truly pleasing with our lives. You are more than capable of loving others, beloved!
Prayer point: Lord God, thank You for teaching us how to love. Your word is a guiding lamp for our feet and light for our path. Thank You for enabling us to love others as we come to know how much You love us in Jesus’ name. Amen.
