Title: Set Your Mind on Things Above.

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” — Colossians 3:2 KJV

Devotion: In a world where the pursuit of wealth and pleasure often overshadows eternal purpose, we’re reminded by Paul in Colossians 3:1–3 to lift our eyes heavenward:
Colossians 3:1–3 KJV  “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
The natural man is consumed with present troubles and temporary gain. We forget that we are mere pilgrims here—passing through toward an eternal home. People chase wealth by any means, forgetting their soul’s destination. But scripture calls us to set our desires not on fleeting riches but on eternal life.
Jesus Christ, who came from heaven and returned there (see John 6:38 — “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.”), invites us to His Father’s house: in John 14:2–3 Jesus says “In my Father's house are many mansions... I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
Heaven is not just a concept—it is our ultimate destination, prepared for those who love Christ. To seek heaven is to seek Jesus, and to find Him is to gain eternal life.
Don’t let earthly treasures distract you. As Jesus says in Matthew 6:19–21 “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth... But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven... For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Call to Action:
Give your life to Jesus Christ, for only through Him can we access the joy and peace of heaven. When we pursue Him, earthly needs will be taken care of: the Bible says in Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Let us therefore fix our hearts on heaven—the place of eternal joy. The time we spend on earth pales in comparison to eternity. And eternity with Christ is worth every sacrifice.
