Devotional: The Power of Timely Kindness.

Scripture:  

_"Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.  

Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee."_  

— Proverbs 3:27–28 (KJV)

 Reflection:  

This passage is a gentle but firm call to action. It reminds us that benevolence is not just a virtue—it’s a responsibility. When we have the means to help, we must not delay. The poor, the elderly, the weak, and the struggling students in our communities are not just statistics or distant concerns. They are our neighbors, our brothers and sisters in humanity.

  God doesn’t measure generosity by the size of the gift, but by the sincerity of the heart and the timeliness of the act. A bowl of rice given today may save a life. A school fee paid now may unlock a future. A visit to an elderly person may restore dignity and joy.

  We often wait for the “right time” to give, or for our own abundance to overflow before we share. But this verse challenges that mindset. If we have it by us—whether it’s money, time, wisdom, or compassion—then the time to give is now.

Prayer:  

Lord, open my eyes to the needs around me.  

Make my hands quick to help, my heart tender to those who cannot repay.  

Let me not delay kindness, nor postpone mercy.  

Use me as a vessel of Your love to the poor, the weak, the forgotten.  

Amen.

Today’s Challenge:  

Find one person who cannot give back—an indigent student, a widow, a sick neighbor, or an elderly person—and bless them. It could be a meal, a kind word, a financial gift, or simply your presence. Don’t wait. Give while it is in your power.

Thought to Carry:  

True generosity is not measured by what you give, but by when you give and to whom. The greatest gifts are often those given to those who cannot return the favor.
