Title: Shining the Light of Christ.
Daniel 12:3 (KJV)
“And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.”
Devotion: In today’s world, there are countless ways to gain knowledge—through education, books, media, and experience. Yet Scripture reminds us that wisdom is far more valuable than mere information.
In Proverbs 9:10 (KJV) we understand that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
True wisdom begins with reverence for God. While many may be intelligent, wisdom in God’s eyes flows from knowing Him and walking in His truth. God, who is perfect in knowledge, is the source of all wisdom.
A Life That Reflects God - Those who walk in wisdom become lights in a world that often feels dark. Our words and actions matter. Though we are imperfect, we are called to reflect God’s character in how we live. Paul in
Ephesians 5:15-16 (KJV) tells us to “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
Living wisely means pursuing righteousness—choosing to follow God’s ways and obey His Word. This is how we align with His design for our lives.
Love as a Mark of Wisdom - Jesus taught that love is the defining trait of His followers.
We find this in John 13:35 (KJV) “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” Loving others is not just a command—it’s a reflection of God’s heart. When we love genuinely, we point others to Jesus.
Matthew 5:14 (KJV) says “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”. As we live wisely and righteously, we shine like stars—just as Daniel 12:3 describes. Our lives become beacons of hope and truth.
A Gentle Call to Action
The way we think, speak, and act reveals God’s love to those around us. Consider how your life today can reflect His light. This is aptly described by Apostle James 3:17 (KJV)
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits…”
I urge you to take a moment to reflect - What are one or two ways you can show the love of Christ today? Perhaps through kindness, forgiveness, or a helping hand. Let your light shine—not loudly, but faithfully. Try one of these this weekend.
