Title: Turn to God in Repentance
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
Joel 2:12-13 KJV
Devotion: Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the 40 days of fasting and prayers that will culminate in Easter celebration. It is a season of sober reflection on our activities in the past and time to come nearer to God. Time to repent and rededicate to God.
The the Lord God has called on you and me to turn to him with all our heart, in fasting and prayers, to cry unto him for mercy and forgiveness. He is anxiously waiting for us to come. The Lord God is a merciful God and gracious he is slow to anger, He is full of love and He loves you. If you are a sinner don't think that God does not love you, He loves you more than you can imagine and He is ready to forgive you. All you have to do is come to him confess your sins, be sober and make up your mind not to go back into sin again. We cannot say because we have a loving God and limitless Grace continue in sinful life, it is not supposed to be so (Romans 6:1&2). Once we confess our sin we must dedicate ourselves to live a life of total obedience and sin no more. That is when our repentance has meaning.
This time of Easter fasting we have to really rededicate ourselves, confess, live a life of total obedience and even after the Easter we should not go back to our past lives of sin.
Dear reader, let us dedicate our lives in fasting and prayers daily as much as our health permits. Fasting means separation of ourself from sin and praying to God, it is a time to engage in Bible study, to meditate on our lives. It is time to love our neighbours, to give material things and even assist the elderly in the community. It is a time to preach the word of God to our neighbours who have not given their life to Christ; it is the time to bring them to repentance not just by the word of our mouths but by our conduct in the community. Hallelujah.
