Title: Praise The God of Abraham!

Praise the name of the Lord your God, who hath dwelth wondrously with you. - Joel 2:26 KJV
Devotion: The book of Joel is divided into three main sections:
1. The Plague of Locusts (Joel 1:1-20)
2. The Call to Repentance (Joel 1:21-2:17)
3. The Promise of Restoration (Joel 2:18-32)
The verse in question, Joel 2:26, is part of the third section, which promises restoration and blessing to God's people after a period of judgment and repentance.
 Historically, Judah faced a severe economic crisis due to a massive locust plague that devastated the land, destroying crops and leaving the people on the brink of famine. This calamity was a consequence of their unbelief and idolatry, as they had turned away from God to worship graven images.
 The prophet Joel called the people to repentance, urging them to turn back to God and seek His forgiveness. He promised that if they would repent, God would restore their fortunes, send rain to end the drought, and bless them with abundant harvests.
  Joel 2:26 is part of this promise of restoration, where God says that He will dwell with His people "wondrously" or "in an extraordinary way". This verse is an expression of God's desire to bless and prosper His people, and to dwell with them in a special and intimate way.
  Today, many of us can identify with the Israelites' experience. We, too, have strayed from God's path and fallen short of His expectations. Yet, thanks to Jesus Christ, we have been restored and blessed abundantly.
 Therefore, let us worship and praise this faithful God, the God of Abraham. I invite you to join me in singing a song of praise to Him.
HYMN 70 - THE GOD OF ABRAHAM PRAISE. COVENANT 6.6.8.4.D.
1. The God of Abraham praise,
Who reigns enthroned above,
Ancient of everlasting days,
And God of love,
Jehovah Great I AM!
By earth and heaven confess'd;
I bow and bless the sacred name,
For ever bless'd.
2. The God of Abraham Praise,
At whose supreme command;
From earth I rise, and seek the joys,
At His right hand,
I all on earth forsake;
Its wisdom, fame, and power,
And Him my only portion make,
My shield and tower.
3. He by Himself hath sworn,
I on His oath depend;
I shall, on eagle' wings upborne,
To heaven ascend;
I shall behold His face;
I shall His power adore,
And sing the wonders of His grace;
For evermore.
4. Though nature's strength decay,
And earth and hell withstand,
To Canaan's bound I urge my way;
At His command,
The watery deep I pass,
With Jesus in my view;
And through the howling wilderness,
My way pursue.
5. The God who reigns on high,
The great archangels sing;
And, Holy, holy, holy, cry,
Almighty King;
Who was and is the same,
And evermore shall be;
Jehovah, Father, Great I AM,
We worship Thee.
6. The whole triumphant host,
Give thanks to God on high;
Hail, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!
They ever cry;
Hail. Abra'am's God, and mine,
I join the heavenly lays;
All might and majesty are Thine,
And endless praise.
Amen.
