Title : Straight Gate
"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Matthew 7:13"
Devotion : Jesus made it clear according to the opening scripture that there are only two gates in the world: one leading to eternal life and the other leading to destruction. The names of the gates are straight/narrow gate and broad/wide gate. The straight gate represents Jesus Christ and the broad gate represents the devil.
Entering the narrow gate is asking Jesus Christ to be Lord and Saviour of your life and making diligent effort to follow him. The straight gate consists in discipline, holiness, submission, and obedience to God's Word. Due to the nature of the narrow gate many people avoid it because they want to live as they please.
On the other hand, the broad gate consists in indiscipline, selfishness, sins, and the pleasures of this world. Many people choose the wide gate because of the cares and pleasures of this world.
Let us be mindful of God's judgement that shall come upon the earth and its lust (2Peter 3:10); therefore let's follow the narrow gate and have peace and rest with God. Please do not join the people who deny his coming because the bible says in 2 Peter 3:4 "And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." Please do not be ignorant, "that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."(2 Peter 3:8).
If God tarries in coming it is because He want to you and me to change our ways and come to Him. He is waiting behind the door knocking, God wants to sup with you(Revelation 3: 20). Why not open the door of your heart today? Tomorrow may be too late (2Corithians 6:2).
Dear beloved, which of these two gates have you chosen and how do you feel about it? Share your thoughts with me at gbemide09@gmail.com. Please share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with your contacts.
