Title: Giving and Receiving.

Scripture focus: Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. Ecclesiastes 11:1 KJV 

The Bible teaches us a profound principle: when we give, we do not lose; instead, we open ourselves to receive even more. Ecclesiastes 11:1 says, “Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.” This verse paints a picture of sowing generously, even when the return seems uncertain. Yet God assures us that what we release in faith will come back multiplied.  

The Principle of Giving:
- Seed and harvest: Galatians 6:7 reminds us, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” When we sow kindness, generosity, and love, we position ourselves to reap blessings in due season. When you give the soil one seed of corn it gives you back 280 seeds in return.  
- Generosity rewarded: Luke 6:38 declares, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.” This shows that God’s economy multiplies what we release.  

The Attitude of the Giver:
- Cheerful giving: 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Giving is not just about the act, but the heart behind it.  
- Trust in God: Casting bread on waters requires faith—it may seem like it’s lost, but God ensures it returns in abundance.  

The Blessing of Receiving:
- Overflowing blessings: Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” When we give, we not only bless others but also invite refreshing into our own lives.  
- Eternal rewards: Beyond material blessings, giving stores treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19–21).  

Prayer:
Lord, teach me to give with a cheerful heart, trusting that what I sow in faith will return in Your perfect timing. Help me to see giving not as loss, but as planting seeds for a harvest of blessings. May my life reflect Your generosity, and may I always be ready to receive with gratitude. Amen.

Luke 6:38 (KJV) declares:   "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."
