Title: With God all things are possible?

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26 KJV Devotion: Science has developed so much it can solve most human problems to the extent that some find it difficult to believe in the existence of God. Science has and is still trying to explain the existence of universe, how the galaxies were formed etc etc but it has no clue.  In the spiritual realm we have a race to complete, every human being have a destination but what manner of destination to where? Heaven to live with Christ or hell in the lake of fire. By God's standard it is impossible to achieve heaven because God demands 100% righteousness. Only Jesus achieved this because Jesus is God in man.    It is only possible for you and me by God's grace to make heaven because God made a way of escape (2Samuel 14:14c) for us so that we will not get lost forever. He sent His begotten son - Jesus Christ to the world to save us(John 3:16). Self rig...

Title: Assurance and Reassurance!

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 KJV Devotion: You probably need assurance and reassurance because of a situation beyond your control just as Joshua was timid to take over the promised land (Joshua 1:9). Joshua had to be reassured by God before he proceeded to take over the land.   Today God says Mr/Mrs/Miss ....... do not fear or be dismayed because I'm with you. I want you to be reassured that once you have Christ as your Lord and Saviour and you have the Holy Spirit living in you there's no cause for concern. No arm can come to you because God's shield (Proverbs 30:15) protecting you from fiery darts. His chariots of fire surrounds your home and business.   You can only fear if you backslide in which case the Holy Spirit will not protect you because it does not stay with sinners. I therefore urge you to give you...

Title: The Whole Armour.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 KJV Devotion: Apostle Paul in his counsel to you and me this morning wants us to be ready to face devil and his cohorts. He tells us to be ready for the spiritual and physical battle of life, battle against the number enemy which is self.  Paul likens the preparation to the Roman soldier saying we must put on the whole armour of god. Whole means everything not 99.999% but 100% by which we will be able to withstand the tricks of the devil.    There are very important steps to take to achieve this 100%, these which include: 1) As a child of God must standing for truth always no matter the outcome, 2) we must live right always both at home, our place of work, church of God and everywhere. People must see Christ in our righteous living. 3) A child of God must be loving and be ready to spread the gospel of peace,(Christ) home or abroad. 4) The shield of faith, wherewith ...

Title: Believe, Work and Receive!

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 KJV Devotion: God unlike a man never fails, whatever He says He'll do He will do. This is confirmed in the book of Prophet Isaiah 55:10-11. If you received a prophecy from God on any issue rejoice it will come to pass unless of course you backslide and failed to work towards receiving the prophecy. An example is this if God says you will become a doctor and you didn't attend medical school it unlikely to come to pass. Maybe you will become herbalist.   In essence when God says He will do, you as a person have a role to play. Do your own part - live right and work diligently towards achieving the goal and God will make it possible for you. Paul says "God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" believe it and work towards it.   In John 14:14 Jesus says if we ask anything in His name that He will do it for us. Have you asked and di...

Title: Do not allow Fear lead you into Sin

"Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Isaiah 35:4" Devotion : The heart of man is synonymous with the spirit of man, which is the true nature of the person. God communicates with people through their spirit because that is where God lives when that person becomes a child of God.    If you allow any kind of fear to overtake your heart, your heart will become fearful and predisposed to be used by the enemy, called the devil. Just as the prophet Isaiah(Isaiah 41:10) was asked to say to the fearful heart, be strong and fear not, you are also encouraged to say the same words to your heart if it becomes fearful.   What you say is what you get because the Holy Spirit is in you to ensure that your words come to pass. He will avenge your enemies, so do not fear the enemies of life, such as the devil, demons, sicknesses, poverty, disappointments, disgrace,...

Title: Acceptable Thoughts

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14 KJV Devotion: From the heart (meaning inner man) comes evil or good thoughts. Jesus says in "Matthew 15:19  For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies" Whatever a person does he must first think it out in his mind before saying it or carrying it out.  So what's in you heart this morning? What's on my mind? Will the thought of my mind be acceptable if voiced out? If not it means I'm not living right and God is not bound to accept it or make it come to pass.   Dearly beloved, let's examine what we say or planned to say or do and make sure God will approve of it. Do you have any different thought on this? Share it with us. It's your friend doctor Joel Olanrewaju visit me at ojaysjoel.blogspot.com for more devotionals.

Title: Give God Praises.

Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 KJV. Devotion: We see in verse above how David praised God after he had assembled all the materials needed to build the house of God. Even though God stopped him from building the temple, David assembled the gold, silver and other materials needed for the building ready. David was very happy and pleased and he exalted God above any other gods. He worshipped God with joy.    Now we have to realise that there is no other god beside God of heaven who created the Earth and placed the stars in their places in the billions upon billions. It is a wonderful thing to see the stars in the night. God, our father is the creator of heavens and earth and the whole universe belongs to Him, He is the ultimate and there is no god beside him.  Dear re...

Title: Be Self-Motivated in the Word!

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV) Devotion: The secret to overcoming fear is acting on the Word of God. Fear of the known and the unknown can deter you from making progress in your life. The only fear that you should harbor in your heart is the holy fear of God (Proverbs 1:7); any other fear will make you foolish and all your decisions and choices will be affected. Dear beloved, be self-motivated in the Word of God and confront anything that wants to scare you. Be strong in prayer and be conscious of the presence of God in you because He will never fail you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). You can accomplish that goal or assignment that seems too difficult; if it is a godly assignment or project, then you have God’s support. May you receive the grace to march forward in Jesus’ name. Hallelujah! You Are An Overcomer! Prayer Point: My dea...

Title: Have you decided?

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Matthew 16:24 KJV Devotion: I can remember we used to sing this song - I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back no turning back.   I will now ask was it true? did we actually decide to follow Jesus? Why did I ask this question the reason is that most people proclaim that they have decided to follow Jesus but when you look into their life you cannot say they are followers of Christ. They still do the things they used to do. Some people still drink excessively some still womanize, some keep malice while some still tell lies and do all sorts of things yet they will tell you they are born again.   If you are born again it means you have decided to follow Christ; you must 1 know the specific date you give your life to Christ, 2 have a break from all your former habits so much so tha...

Title: Is Your Desire in line with God's plan?

A man's heart deviseth his way: But the LORD directeth his steps. Proverbs 16:9 KJV. Devotion: I don't know about you, but it has happened to me several times and to many people too. You think up something - a lady you met or job that you wanted and there and then you believe that's it.    Then you start praying on it - Lord this is my wife , give her to me and after several days of prayer she disappears from your vicinity and you can't even connect with her again. You may feel let down that God did not answer your prayers.    It could be anything your heart desires but God did not give you, remember the word of God above (proverb 16:9). You can propose but it is for God to make it happen because God knows what you don't know and sees what is hidden from your sight.    Dearly beloved when you want something and you do not get it do not blame God. Check your mind if your desire is in line with God's plan, it means God is in you in form of Holy Spirit. Then y...

Title: Resist the Devil!

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 KJV Devotion: Apostle James in his Godly wisdom knows how to deal crushing blow to Devil - Resist the Devil.  But I dare say resisting the Devil is not an easy task, because devil is in you and me, it is an invisible character. It thrives in the heart of the natural man since the time Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden.  To resist the devil is to resist yourself, to abandon all you have naturally done. Let's start from a toddler nobody teaches them to take a thing and deny, none teaches them to beat a fellow toddler. It's just natural. (Mind you not all toddlers do these). Some people are naturally liars, disobedient, full of hatred and some are cleptomania and many commit subtle sins which even they don't regard as sins.  When James says resist the devil 👿, the first statement he made is SUBMIT TO GOD translate to mean give your life to God through Christ Jesus ...

Title: Do not Despair.

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. Psalm 18:2 KJV Devotion: On a personal note I know something is wrong somewhere but I don't know what it is. I've been forgetful like locking my car key inside this morning. Two days ago I misplaced it. Thank God I found it where I thought I kept it only position was deeper inside.   Despite all I am bold enough to say, "The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower" like the Psalmist says of God.   You may have been in the same shoes with me or your situation might be different I urge you do not be DESPAIRED, put your trust in the Rock of our salvation, trust Him, the condition will ease up and we shall all praise God.  For more devotionals visit my page at ojaysjoel.blogspot.com. Title: Do not Change Denomination.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12 KJV. Devotion: Paul in unmistakable words delivers a strong mandate to Timothy his Godson. He tells him not to engage in unprofitable discussion of unproven science but Timothy should rather engage himself in the fight of faith and eternal life. By this Paul means "preach the Gospel of Christ" to the people.   Historically the Ephesus church deviated from grace of Christ and embraced power and control rather than service, sacrifice, and love. Paul told Timothy to remain in Ephesus because it seemed that Timothy wanted to give up and run away due to above facts. Paul had to encourage Timothy to remain in Ephesus because Paul wanted Timothy to continue the preaching of the Gospel of Christ.    Dearly beloved, are you feeling that something is missing or wrong where you worship? Maybe the teaching is not right or ...

Title: Do you Approach God Confidently or Through some Medium

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 1 John 5:14 KJV Devotion: Praise God, what a wonderful God we serve, a loving father He is. He is always ready to listen to us, His children and hears us. Whenever you ask anything from your earthly father because he loves you he listens and does it for you.   Such is God a loving father who listens and answers prayers especially when we ask according to His plan for us. Some of us are parents already will know that when our children ask us for anything we listen to them, we hear them and answer them. Especially when such children are obedient and when we ask them to do something they do it enjoy  joyfully.  No matter how if our children are obedient we will listen to them and do what they request because their request is in line with our plan for them to become doctors, lawyers, engineers, marketers e t c. But a disobedient child will not be able to confidently...

Title: His Unfailing Love

Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; For in thee do I trust: Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; For I lift up my soul unto thee. Psalm 143:8 KJV Devotion: Dear reader, it is another beautiful morning and no matter what happened yesterday or at night God wants us to know that His unfailing love is for you. When we wake up in the morning we quickly want to hear the news around the world, sometimes devastating things happen while we slept, it maybe caused by some other people.  At other times we were in the midst of it, the cause of it. "Sometimes instead of being the one fast asleep, we’re the ones spreading gossip, rumors and lies. We’re the ones in the wrong bed with the wrong person. We’re the ones causing the verbal, emotional, physical or mental abuse. We’re the ones who said such hateful, hurtful things. We’re the ones that broke someone’s heart and spirit. We’re the ones who should’ve been there, could’ve been there, but were very much absent. We’r...

Title: Be Ready for the Future

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18‭-‬19 KJV Devotion: It's still a new year, God just spoke to you now to forget the things that happened last year. It could have been a financial loss, job loss, illness or lost of a loved one. The issue could have been a punishment from God as He did to Israelites when they sinned. It could be incidental.  God tells you and me to stop dwelling on the past because He is going to do a new thing. Remember if you dwell on the past you will not have time to think on the future. Only the prepared gets lucky, an example is if you do not have the necessary certificate you cannot get the job when there's vacancy. Get ready spiritually and physically and He who promised will fulfill it.  Dearly beloved, are you expecting a new thing this year? Stop dwelling o...

Title: Of Righteousness and Mercy

He that followeth after righteousness and mercy Findeth life, righteousness, and honour. Proverbs 21:21 KJV Devotion:    To live righteously is to conduct one's life in an upright manner and with moral standards that reflect our relationship with the Lord. As representatives of the kingdom of God in all that we do, we should mirror his ways. This is what God demands from us - total obedience.   In our daily lives we must apply the wisdom of God to balance our acts of righteousness and mercy herein interpreted as love. Some think being right is more important than mercy; others think being merciful is more important than being right. But godly wisdom balances the two to please God in every situation. Though striving to do what is right in God's sight at all times, you should be eager to show mercy(love) to those hurting you or needing you.    Love is an attribute of God, in fact God is love; I will therefore say to be righteous is to love. Therefore he who i...

TITLE : CHRISTIAN (LIKE CHRIST)

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.  Acts 11:26. Devotion : The followers of Christ were first called Christian in Antioch because they lived Holy life, preached like Christ and wrought wonders like Christ.    In Matt 5:44 Jesus commanded His followers of which you and I are members to “......, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”   There was a skit I watched on TV  recently of a lady quarrelling with a commercial bicycle rider over a little matter. She swore at him, made a lot of noise. The next day after Sunday service the same lady went out to evangelise, unfortunately she met the same bicycle rider in an accident and ministered to him. Alas the rider said he preferred...

Title: Go Ye!

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14 KJV Devotion: Whilst Habakkuk waited on the Lord he received the verse above as part of the prophecy of what will happen shortly. The Lord God was elaborate on the evil of men, how they build cities with blood, how they make people drunk so that they can mock them (Habakkuk 2: 10, 12, 25)But destruction comes soon.    If we listen to the news and watch the television we'll see these evils around us. There's wantom killing, kidnapping, rapping, arson and even rebellion. Nations rise against nation. Yet the end is not now because the whole earth is not yet filled with the knowledge of the glory of God.(Habakkuk 2:14) Some people have not heard about Christ, all nations must be reached and preached to so that none will have alibi that he did not hear of Christ. Then judgement will come.   Dear reader, the onus is on you and me to preach the Gospel to all nati...

Title: Enjoy Your Spouse!

“Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 9:9 (KJV) Devotion: Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. It is a covenant that should not be taken lightly. Marriage was created by God for mankind to enjoy and procreate (Genesis 2:24–25). However, the end time marriages are bedeviled with so many misconceptions, making it difficult for some to enjoy their marriage. These have led to a number of separations and divorces in society and even in the church.   Dear beloved, marriage is good and must be enjoyed. Remember that when you marry someone, the two of you are coming from different backgrounds and upbringings; therefore, it will take the grace of God and diligence to work together and enjoy your marriage. Don’t make divorce an option. Dialogue and understand ...

Title: Repent and Be Converted.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:19 KJV Devotion: This message was delivered to the congregation at the Solomon portico when a lame man was healed by the name of crucified Jesus Christ. The people recognized Peter as lay man and wondered how Peter was able to achieve such a great miracle.   Peter told them to repent from their sin meaning to acknowledge that their way of life was wrong and to accept way of God as the only right way. If they repent then they will be able to do greater exploits for Christ. You can do better too.  In order to be saved, we must accept that our sins are wrong and that God provides the way we should live. This isn't just an intellectual exercise; we need to allow the belief to change us, inside and out. That doesn't mean we'll never sin again. It means our goal is to hate sin as much as God does. If we permit the Holy Spirit in...

Title: Is your Light Shining?

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 KJV Devotion: This verse is from sermon on the mount by Jesus Christ, here He taught the apostles and teaches you and me to live our lives in such a way that God will be honoured in our lives. What does this translate into? It means we must live such a Christ like life (Acts 11:26) so that when strangers meet us they'll see a totally different person from the worldly person they are used to. Your friends must notice the difference in you from the friend they know before. Members must see the difference in your character and praise God for you.  About a month ago I gave a young man lift in my car. As we were discussing he said "Sir, you must be a pastor", I ask why and his response was "your talk and act gave you out". I told him I'm an ordinary man working for God. He said people like me are rare to come by; I don't know what he...

Title: God's Love.

Image
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 1 John 4:9 KJV Devotion: Good morning, in continuation of the topic of yesterday we are going to further discuss God's love towards us. The reason for God's love is not far-fetched, God created humans and set some set of laws that must be obeyed when Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden but Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:11).  From there on sin became us we became sin. God the creator, does not want His handiwork destroyed so He loves us. It is not we who love Him yet He does everything to reconcile us to Himself.    So if God loves us and gave us his son, we have a responsibility to respond appropriately by loving him in return. Yet we find out that most of us in actual fact hate God. This we see in our daily sinful life.   In family relationships the parents love their children but the...

Title: Love one Another.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. John 13:34 KJV Devotion: The four letters word LOVE, is a miracle word that has the power to change the world. Wherever Love is there is Peace. Its absence leads to strife, mistrust, unhappiness and all forms of stress.  It is the absence of love that causes war between Nations, one people hates the other and covets the resources of the weaker country. The stronger country oppresses the weaker because there is no love.  Where love is absent God is not there because God is Love (1John 4:8). Therefore one can safely say Nations without love are ungodly and always at war with someone. Its people kill themselves daily. The same can be extrapolated to family level.  A loving family is peaceful, lives together, no divorce, enjoys goodness of God, always assisting the weak amongst them. There's no strife, no envy, none covets the others' property or success. A loving ...

Title: Be confident of tomorrow.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:34 KJV. Devotion: Christ commands us not to worry is enough reason to have hope in his plan for tomorrow. Emmanuel (God with us) is with us and if we believe this, then we don't have to worry about tomorrow because Emmanuel (God) will be there. This is particularly true when we live our lives in him daily. God is with us here and now, to find him there can be no dreaming or worrying about tomorrow. He will be there too, and so will we, when it becomes today. James and Proverbs tell us not to boast about tomorrow either (Ja 4:13; Pr 27:1), but be confident about tomorrow because God will always be there with us. This does not mean should not plan for tomorrow because will be held accountable for what was entrusted to us. (Matt 25: 14-30). All we need to do is be confident and not to worry about tomorrow; either we worry or not, ...

Title: Reasons to Praise God.

https://youtu.be/D5kDM1FTZxE Psalms 150:6  Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. (Please read the whole chapter 150) Devotion: Many times we take God for granted and we fail to appreciate him just because we are comfortable or things are going well for us.  Try to watch the v-clip above and fear God who saved you from these disasters. Remember not all caught in disaster are sinners, you are safe by grace nothing more. That you are alive is God not because you are good or even bad for that matter.    In all situations let us praise God. By Dr Joel Olanrewaju visit us at ojaysjoel.blogspot.com for more devotionals.

Title: Walk Perfectly before God.

Hymn 004 - Forth in Thy Name, O Lord I go Genesis 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. Devotion: Today is the first working day in Nigeria, according to the passage above let us live above board this year, let us apply ourselves to our jobs as if it belongs to us personally and the more so if it belongs to us.   Walk and work joyfully and be diligent. Do not forget the place of prayer in our lives. Sing the prayerful song below along with us  1. mf Forth in Thy Name, O Lord I go, My daily labour to pursue, Thee, only Thee, resolved to know In all I think, or speak, or do. 2. The task thy wisdom hath assigned O let me cheerfully fulfil, In all my works Thy presence find, And prove Thy acceptable will. 3. Preserve me from my calling's snare And hide my simple heart above, Above the thorns of choking care The gilded baits of worldly love 4 c...

Title: Emmanuel knocks!

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20 KJV Devotion: Good morning, Emmanuel is at the door of your house he is waiting for you, He would like to visit you. Yesterday we said God with us, He is there now.  I know that some people have allowed God into their lives. But there are still other people who have not permitted Emmanuel to come in because they have not given their life to Him. This morning Emmanuel knocks your door and we like to come in and sup with you, He is anxious anxiously waiting for you. I call upon you to permit him to visit you and live with you His mission on earth is to live with you. Therefore I say give your life to Christ today, obey him and live for him and your life will not be the same again. This year 2023 will be your year of greatest achievement if you live for Christ. I believe you know that you can be successful financially and ot...

Title: Emmanuel - God with us.

Isaiah 43:1-4 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. Devotion: We are in year 2023, I want to assure you that God is with you. Carefully read the verses above and be assured that you have a loving, caring and protecting God.  Please note that God did not say there will not be problem but God will not allow it to overwhelm you. No matter the situation - a valley, in fire ...
