Title: Resist the Devil!
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 KJV
Devotion: Apostle James in his Godly wisdom knows how to deal crushing blow to Devil - Resist the Devil. But I dare say resisting the Devil is not an easy task, because devil is in you and me, it is an invisible character. It thrives in the heart of the natural man since the time Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden.
To resist the devil is to resist yourself, to abandon all you have naturally done. Let's start from a toddler nobody teaches them to take a thing and deny, none teaches them to beat a fellow toddler. It's just natural. (Mind you not all toddlers do these). Some people are naturally liars, disobedient, full of hatred and some are cleptomania and many commit subtle sins which even they don't regard as sins.
When James says resist the devil 👿, the first statement he made is SUBMIT TO GOD translate to mean give your life to God through Christ Jesus the son of God.(John 3:16). It is only after doing this that the Holy Spirit will make your body, your heart it's abode. The Holy Spirit will from then on guide your heart to live the un-natural life. The laws of devil will be destroyed and you will live by the laws of God. Lies, cheating, etc will become abhorrent to you. The people who knows you before will start to wonder what has become of you.
Dearly beloved, congratulations if you already have Christ and you are filled with the Holy Spirit. It means you have to work hardrr to keep it, because devil is not just going to sit around and watch his kingdom destroyed. Therefore you need to read your Bible daily, live within the community of fellow believers filled with the Holy Spirit and ask God regularly for Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is like petrol in your car it gets dry with use so you need to replenish it regularly.
