Title: Crushed!
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” - Genesis 3:15 (KJV)
Devotion: It's often said that the best way to kill a snake is to strike its head. Satan targeted God's most cherished creation—humanity. However, God declared that He would crush the serpent's head. This verse is known as the protoevangelium, the first mention of the good news of salvation in the Bible.
Despite our failures and tendency to heed the devil over God, He did not abandon us to hopeless condemnation. Instead, God, though heartbroken, promised to send the woman's seed, the Messiah, who would crush Satan and save us all. As foretold, Satan would bruise the Messiah's heel, but his head would be crushed.
This prophecy was fulfilled on the cross. Jesus Christ endured immense shame and suffering inflicted by the enemy, but through His sacrifice, Satan was defeated, granting us freedom from eternal condemnation.
Beloved, we are blessed to know that no matter the suffering or injustice we face on Earth, God's justice will prevail. God will crush the head of our adversary. Just as He did with Adam and Eve, despite our continuous rebellion, God extends His grace and acts on our behalf. We must anchor our confidence in this truth. Our God will surely crush the head of our adversities.
Prayer Point: Heavenly Father, thank You for not leaving us to suffer the consequences of our disobedience. Instead, You acted by sacrificing Your only Son on the cross for our salvation. Lord, whenever I face trials, remind me of Your great love for me. You will never abandon me but will always come to my rescue. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
