Title: Not Everything is Expedient!

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV
Devotion: The Israelites who left Egypt perished in the wilderness because of their numerous sins. After baptism unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea they rebelled against God. They made graven image of calf and called it God, they fornicate with gods of the people they came across in the wilderness. They sacrificed to idols and ate food offered to idols and perished.
Nevertheless their children, Caleb and Joshua got to the promised land. Today, we are children of Israel by grace because we have Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we are not under the law. But not everything is expedient to do or eat especially when a neighbour whose faith is not strong is present. We must allow our conscience to guide us especially as we relate with people of the world. Do not go on to ask questions that will offend your conscience or that of your neighbour.(1Cor 10: 25-27). But if your conscience says NO, or you are told specifically that it was meat (food) sacrificed to idols do not eat.
Remember the best option is in  2 Corinthians 6:14 and it says "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" I will therefore say do not go to idol worshippers to celebrate (eat) but only preach to them.
Dearly beloved, please share your thoughts on this with us. Hallelujah. I remain your friend Dr Joel Olanrewaju visit my page at ojaysjoel.blogspot.com for more devotionals.
