Title: Discipline is Peace and Righteousness!

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Devotion: Discipline is a word many will rather love to hate because nobody wants to be corrected and it is not easy to correct oneself. Many children hate waking up early and going to school, but those who endured always come out tops and are rewarded on price giving day at the end of academic year.
I remember when I gave up smoking it was so difficult I used to smoke in my dreams. I heard to work hard on it and now I enjoy peace with myself, I don't cough or have breathing difficulty. Praise God.
Two days ago I heard on reason about a man unable to discipline his manhood was sentenced to life imprisonment for sexually harazing his 13 year old daughter.
Dearly beloved, it is better to allow God discipline us through His word - the Bible and live life of obedience. Paul endured discipline on the road to Damascus and his life was transformed (Acts 9: 1-12). It may not be easy to abandon old habits, to give up self indulgence but if we discipline ourselves now, it will yield peaceable fruit of righteousness to us in the nearest future. We will reap the fruit here and in eternity.
