Title: God’s Compassions Fail Not.

Scripture focus:Lamentations 3:22-23  It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Devotion: Jeremiah’s words in Lamentations 3:22–23 rise out of a landscape of sorrow and devastation, yet they shine with hope: “It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Even in grief, he recognized that God’s compassion is inexhaustible. Like the sunrise that faithfully breaks through the darkest night, His mercies arrive fresh each day, never diminished, never delayed.

Human compassion often falters. It can be worn thin by fatigue, clouded by selfishness, or forgotten in the rush of life. But God’s compassion is infinite. He sees our weakness, our failures, and our brokenness, and yet He responds with mercy and love. This is why we are not consumed—His faithfulness sustains us when our own strength collapses.

God’s compassion is not a distant ideal to be admired from afar; it is a living reality meant to be reflected in our own lives. Jesus taught, “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful” (Luke 6:36). If God renews His mercies every morning, then our compassion toward others should also be renewed daily. His forgiveness calls us to forgive freely. His provision urges us to be generous. His comfort for the brokenhearted compels us to show empathy and kindness. When we fail to show compassion, we misrepresent the God whose image we bear. Compassion is not weakness—it is strength clothed in humility.

To live rightly, we must anchor ourselves in God’s faithfulness and allow His compassion to shape our daily actions. Forgiveness must become a habit, not a rare gesture. Attentiveness to others’ needs should mark our relationships, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or a listening ear. Each morning offers us a fresh opportunity to renew our compassion, just as God renews His mercies. In this way, our lives become a testimony to His faithfulness.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for mercies that are new every morning. Teach us to reflect Your compassion in our daily lives. Help us to forgive, to love, and to show kindness, so that others may see Your faithfulness through us. Amen.
