Title: Let Your Light Shine!
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. Isaiah 60:1 NIV
Devotion: In Genesis 1:2b - 3 "and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." In other words the world was filled with darkness until God intervened.
In the days of prophet Isaiah, Israel the chosen of God as we read in Isaiah 59:7-8 "Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace." Above shows darkness all over the place and it is hardly different from what we are experiencing in the world of today. There's war everywhere, moral decadence, ritual killing, kidnapping etc everywhere. All point to darkness in the world.
Like Israel (Isaiah 59: 9-10) we suffer in darkness and there's little hope for the world, because many refused to see the light of Jesus Christ (John 1: 4&5), they fail to see and accept him into their lives. This is the reason for the oppression and wars and evil in the world, unless those of us who believe in Christ intervene things will only get worse.
God calls you and me today to “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you." This call is to save the world from imminent destruction. It is a call to carry out the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ to preach the word of God to all parts of the world. (Mark 16 vs 15).
Dear reader are you ready? You have another opportunity this weekend to do what you can, to shine the light of Christ to the dark spots in your neighbourhood. May God help you in Jesus name. Hallelujah.
Please share your testimony with us here.
