Title: Be still.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. ‭Psalm 46:10 KJV‬
Devotional: This is continuation of yesterday's topic, FOCUS ON GOD. Here we explore Psalm 46:10; the verse is a powerful reminder of God’s sovereignty and our need to trust in Him. Here are a few devotional reflections based on this verse:

1: Be Still and Know God’s Peace: When life feels chaotic, and anxiety threatens to overwhelm us, Psalm 46:10 provides a calming directive: “Be still, and know that I am God.” The phrase “be still” can also be translated as “stand empty” or “be unoccupied.” It invites us to surrender our worries, fears, and striving. Instead of frantically trying to control everything, we can find peace by acknowledging that God is in charge. His sovereign plan for our lives surpasses our understanding. When we stand empty, relying on Him, His peace floods our hearts, and we recognize that He holds us securely in His hands.
2: God’s Splendor and Power: Psalm 46:10 reminds us of God’s greatness. Regardless of our circumstances, He remains exalted. The verse says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” It’s an invitation to cease striving in our own strength and recognize His power. We need not panic over things beyond our control. God created us, knows our capabilities, and is greater than any challenge we face. When we are still, we can focus on His splendor and trust that He is in control.
3: Remembering God’s Intervention: Psalm 46 was written as a song of praise and thanksgiving. The context reveals that God had delivered Jerusalem from its enemies. The Holy City had been surrounded, and God’s people faced extinction. But God intervened! In verse 10, He urges them never to forget who He is and declares that He will be exalted over all nations. When we reflect on God’s past faithfulness, we find courage to face our present challenges. He is the same God who worked miracles then, and He remains exalted today.
4: Trusting God’s Plan: When we “stand empty” before God, we acknowledge our dependence on Him. Surrendering our cares and burdens allows room for His peace and provision. God’s desire is for us to rely on Him completely. As we obey His command to “stand still and know that I am God,” we discover a profound truth: He is with us, working even when we can’t see it. Our role is to trust, surrender, and find rest in His presence.
In summary, Psalm 46:10 invites us to pause, trust, and recognize God’s sovereignty. When we are still, we find peace, remember His past interventions, and embrace His plan for our lives. May we continually seek His presence and rest in the assurance that He is exalted above all.
