Title: Don’t serve money!
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10 KJV
Devotion: Money is a powerful tool in people’s lives. And even for Christians, money plays a crucial role in supplying everyday needs and living, advancing the Kingdom of God, and accomplishing many things for the glory of God. That being said, we must be vigilant and sober-minded when it comes to handling and accumulating money because it is a treasure that belongs to the world.
When we die, we won’t bring the money with us! That is why the Bible commands us to make our tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:10) and cheerfully give to others in need (2 Corinthians 9:6-7) so that the love of money and greed won’t get a hold of us! Jesus Christ said we cannot serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24), for we will hate one and love the other.
Beloved, money in itself is not evil, but the love of money is! As a child of God, you must be wise when money comes into your hands. You must see to it that every penny is offered to and guided by the Lord because every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17)!
When you entrust God with your money, consult Him with your use of it, and remain obedient to all His instructions, it shows your trust and dependence on Him, the true Source of life and blessing, and not on the money. You are a lover of God and not money! Hallelujah for the victory over Mammon!
Prayer point: Heavenly Father, the true Source of all blessings and good things, I thank You because I can entrust You with my whole life. As You bless and increase me financially, I dedicate all money that I have into Your hands and guidance. Thank You for giving me wisdom and discernment in spending my money and for protecting me and my household against the work of evil, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
