Title: Character is Like Smoke.

Scripture focus: “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open” (Luke 8:17).

Devotion: Character is like smoke—no matter how much one tries to conceal it, it will eventually rise and reveal itself. Just as smoke cannot be hidden under a blanket, our true nature cannot remain hidden forever. Jesus Himself taught, “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open” (Luke 8:17).
A person’s words, actions, and choices are the fragrance of their character. Proverbs 27:19 reminds us, “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” What is within us will inevitably manifest outwardly. If our hearts are filled with pride, bitterness, or deceit, it will show. But if our hearts are shaped by Christ, humility, love, and truth will shine through.
The Apostle Paul exhorts believers in Galatians 5:22–23 to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are not external masks we wear; they are the natural outflow of a heart transformed by God.
Therefore, let us guard our hearts diligently, for “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4:23). Just as smoke rises and reveals what burns beneath, so our character will rise and reveal who we truly are. If you have not submitted to the authority of Jesus Christ I urge you to do so today because tomorrow maybe too late. The bible tells us today is the day (2 Cor 6:2) May Christ be the fire within you and me, so that what rises from our lives is a testimony of His grace. Shalom
