Topic: Meekness, Not Foolishness!

Scripture focus: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5). 

Devotion: Meekness is often misunderstood as weakness or passivity, but in Scripture, it is a mark of strength under control. To be meek is not to be foolish—it is to walk in humility, wisdom, and reliance on God’s power rather than our own.

  Jesus Himself declared, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5). Meekness is not cowardice; it is the posture of a heart surrendered to God, trusting His justice and timing. Moses was described as “very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth” (Numbers 12:3), yet he was a bold leader who confronted Pharaoh and guided Israel through the wilderness. His meekness did not make him foolish—it made him dependent on God.

  Foolishness, on the other hand, despises wisdom and rejects instruction. Proverbs warns, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice” (Proverbs 12:15). A fool acts rashly, but the meek wait patiently, discerning God’s will before moving.

  Meekness is strength restrained, wisdom applied, and humility embraced. It is choosing peace over pride, patience over provocation, and obedience over rebellion. It is not foolishness—it is Christlikeness. As Paul exhorts, “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near” (Philippians 4:5).
