Title: Peacemakers.

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." — Matthew 5:9 (KJV)  

Devotion: Peace is not merely the absence of conflict; it is the active presence of reconciliation, harmony, and love. Jesus calls us to be peacemakers, not peacekeepers. A peacekeeper avoids confrontation, but a peacemaker steps into brokenness with courage, bringing healing and restoration.  

The Bible reminds us that true peace begins with God. Romans 5:1 declares, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” When our hearts are reconciled to Him, we are empowered to extend that same peace to others.  

Peacemaking often requires humility. James 3:18 says, “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” It is not about winning arguments but about sowing seeds of righteousness that lead to unity.  

Jesus Himself is our model. In Ephesians 2:14, Paul writes, “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.” Christ tore down barriers, reconciling Jew and Gentile, and through His sacrifice, He reconciled humanity to God.  

To be called children of God is the highest honor. It means we reflect His nature. Just as God is the God of peace (Hebrews 13:20), His children must embody peace in their homes, workplaces, communities, and even in the church.  

Let us ask ourselves: are we sowing discord or sowing peace? Are our words healing or wounding? Proverbs 12:20 reminds us, “Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.” Joy follows those who counsel peace, for they walk in the footsteps of Christ.  

Prayer
Lord, make me a peacemaker. Help me to bring reconciliation where there is division, calm where there is chaos, and love where there is hatred. May my life reflect Your peace, so that I may truly be called Your child. Amen.
