Title: Do Not Condemn the Guiltless.

Matthew 12:7 — “But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.”

Devotion: Jesus spoke these words to the Pharisees who were quick to judge His disciples for plucking grain on the Sabbath. The heart of His message is clear: God values mercy over ritual, compassion over rigid rule-keeping. To condemn the guiltless is to miss the very heart of God.
 - Mercy over sacrifice: Hosea 6:6 echoes this truth — “For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” God is not impressed by outward religious acts when our hearts lack compassion.
  - Judging others: Jesus warns in Matthew 7:1 — “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” Condemning the innocent reveals a spirit of pride, not love.
  - Christ’s example: When the woman caught in adultery was brought before Him, Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more” (John 8:11). He showed mercy where others demanded punishment.
   God calls us to be people of mercy. Before we rush to condemn, we must ask: Am I reflecting the heart of Christ? Mercy lifts, heals, and restores — condemnation crushes and alienates. To walk in mercy is to walk in the Spirit of Christ.
 Prayer: “Lord, teach me to value mercy over judgment. Help me to see others through Your eyes, and never condemn the guiltless. May my life reflect Your compassion and grace. Amen.”
